Bond Projects

The following projects have been granted funding through the 2020 Hays County Parks and Open Space Bond.

Starnes Ranch is a 52-acre property located near San Marcos, which was recommended for a conservation easement as part of the 2020 Hays County Parks Bond. In collaboration with the Hill Country Conservancy, Hays County Commissioners allocated $111K from Park Bond funds to help preserve the natural landscape of the area, which was completed in August 2024.
Starnes Ranch is a vital natural area and includes a hardwood forest along Sink Creek and Little Sink Creek, which helps protect water quality for the Edwards Aquifer and Guadalupe-Blanco River basin. The property also provides crucial habitat for wildlife, including ten bird species in need of conservation. This preservation project has now been completed as of March 2025.
