Overview
In 2020, Hays County voters approved Proposition A, a $75M Parks and Open Space Bond to expand parks, preserve natural areas, and meet the County’s growing recreational needs. To maximize the bond’s impact, Hays County worked to secure additional funding sources including $9.8M from the 2016 Hays County Road Bond, $7M from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), $5M in general funds, and $3.5M from partnering agencies.
That same year, the Hays County Parks and Open Space Advisory Commission (POSAC) evaluated the 34 proposed projects and established funding and project priorities. Since then, the County has been working diligently to develop these projects and bring improved recreational opportunities to the rapidly growing Central Texas area.
